About Choppers
Australia...
Choppers Australia
is a place where chopper
builders and riders can meet, ride together and help each other... Choppers Australia
exists especially to promote old school and classic choppers... but ALL styles are very welcome.

Any year, make and style
(old or modern) of chopper is welcome... Doesn't
matter if your motorcycle is a chopped AJS, BSA, Honda, BMW, Harley,
Suzuki, Triumph, Yamaha, or even a whozawatzit
and it can be any size...
We are family friendly
club. This website is proudly G rated. We offer you the
opportunity to meet, ride and share with other enthusiasts, builders
and owners.
We positively promote old school
and classic
choppers, their style, values and craftsmanship. We preserve
and show traditional chopper literature, media and artefacts.
Choppers Australia...
was founded by Andrew
(Prof) in September 2005 to bring chopper builders and riders
together in a spirit of camaraderie and mutual support and to
spread the word about the exciting re-emergence of a 60's -70's
phenomenon... the old school and classic chopper...
Prof chopped his first bike in 1970
and rode his 1973 CB500 chopper until he chopped his father's
'81shovel in 2002.

Why we began...
Prof, had been "bumping into" chopper enthusiasts around SA
for a couple of years and most felt like they were the only one
"doing it". Many who were wanting to build a classic or old
school chopper, but could find little information and even less
parts. Prof's vision was to meet that need. Choppers
Australia was to be a service organization to chopper builders and
riders... information, support and meeting together...
Response has been far beyond expectations. Thanks to a
great bunch of chopper enthusiasts across Australia and overseas, Choppers Australia
aims are being more than achieved...
Choppers... Choppers Australia is focussed on
choppers... and is
about encouragement, information and being a vehicle for
chopper enthusiasts to share their excitement and to ride with
others of like mind...
Loosely organised...
Choppers Australia is at this stage
very loosely organised with no committees and organisational
meetings... just a bunch of chopper enthusiasts getting together to
ride and share info. Local groups organise their own runs and get
togethers. They send in their details to be put up on website.
We are Australia-wide and encourage and support regional groups to
get together as of mates and families for fellowship and rides.
Choppers Australia is
not about recruiting lots of members, cornering the chopper movement
or having tight control of its members. We are not a
patch club, but we do respect all motorcyclists and all clubs
whatever their choice of transport and choice of organization.
Family Welcome... We encourage the whole family to
participate and all our activities and publications, including this
website are proudly "G Rated".

South Australia...
Choppers Australia is based in South Australia. In SA, we currently
have 20+ member riders of chopped Hondas, Triumphs and Harleys
a Virago and some some
XS 650 Yams. A number of other non members also join in on our
activities. In SA we have monthly chopper runs. Runs are
not obligatory, simply there if you would like to join in...
Other States...
We have a growing number of very
active and enthusiastic interstate members and enquiries and
membership applications are coming in regularly. Queensland
members also organise monthly runs. Our other
interstate members have not begun riding together... yet, but it's
not far off...
The information, photos
and discussion available through our activities, newsletter, website and forums are shrinking the distances
between an enthusiastic and ever increasing band of chopper jocks
across Australia.
Website Chopper chat forum...
Want to find other like minded chopper
enthusiasts?... Register on our website chat forum and
tell everyone you're out there.
Travelling interstate?...
Why not
drop in on other club members. Register your
interest and if some one is coming near you, we will assist you to
offer them your hospitality.
Organised and individual rides...
Aussie chopper riders are often very
spread out because we are a big country with a small population.
Therefore we attempt whenever possible to connect chopper riders in
local areas and encourage them to organise their own rides and get
togethers. The website has a forum where you can organise your
rides and a webpage where arrangements can be announced. You are
welcome to use the forum to arrange your ride whether you are
a financial member of Choppers Australia or just a friend.
Choppers Australia members do get around,
so new members where ever you are will be visited by some one at
some time.
Discounts...
We
have currently organised discounts from
South Australian businesses to Choppers Australia club members on
Batteries... Chrome plating & polishing... Panel work,
fibre glassing & spray painting... Old school style mods & custom
handlebars... and we expect to have some more
as interested businesses are found. See Services ..." page for
some of these businesses. Members can contact us for further
details...
