4 Speed Trans
Removed the kicker cover from the tranny. I am wondering why there is no slinger on the push rod and if it matters. The manual shows it.

Re: Fork modification
Yeah, did not even cut the ends straight. Will check the spring lengths. Maybe they are a bit weak and need replaced. On the other hand maybe the guy had to raise the front end a bit after he changed the tanks. Cause if Fat Bob tanks are typical, these have got to be Obese Bob tanks. I reckon I coul...

Re: Melbourne / Vic get together
Well...a finer collection of bulltish I've never heard. Yet not a single logical explanation for why Fluffer is retiring before me.

Re: Melbourne / Vic get together
Me... I'm still puzzling over how it is that Fluffer is retiring. I mean as all and sundry (sundry being those NSW guys met at Bombala) who have met him can attest, while it is obvious that Fluffer looks much older than me, I am pretty sure he is in fact a fair bit younger. So how is it he is retiri...

Shifter linkage
Having shifting problems on an 85 FXSB. Very hard to shift smoothly between gears. Skips gears and near impossible to find neutral. Have inspected the shifter top internals. Seems OK. A couple of small burrs on the top of rotary cam, but not in the path of the rollers. The issue would seem to be tha...

Brake questions
I mentioned a while back that I had pulled the front forks off the shovel to do a service. Turned out that what I thought was a crack in one tube was just a casting mark in the bottom of the tube. No comments please. Anyway, new seals, reinstalled and refilled without further problem. Then I put on ...

Shovelhead oiling
I have seen a guy selling split oil lines for the Shovelhead. The claim is that it resoles the issue of oil starvation on the front cylinder. I suppose this is mostly at idle. The kit is said to be brass and comes with brass push rod covers too. Not sure I care about the brass that much. Any one hav...
