2019 Strathalbyn SwapMeet and short ride...

Strathalbyn swap meet today. Begins at 6.30. 5.15am and the alarm's incessant beeping wakes me out of a rather silly dream. Crawl out of bed. Unlock workshop. My trusty steed waiting there in the dark, packed and ready to roll. Heat breakfast and get changed. Fires almost out. Damn! Go outside to ge...

Re: VTX 1300... the works...

Back onto the VTX. Lionell stripped the front end of the bike and it looks a hundred times better already... in fact a genuine bobber. 40's through 60's American bikes were all fat and heavy although not quite as extreme as this modern Japanese copy. Rear guards got bobtailed, and front guards, big ...

Back on the job Tuesday and finished the project at 6.45pm; total of 13 hours... Reinforcing tube welded in. Vertical support is part of original tank front mount. Helps prevent the curved tube from flexing. Flame will be moved an joined (on a tip) further forwards to help further stabilize the tube...

2019 Ride to Pt Pirie and then the Lockleys Bike Expo...

Last entry on my chopper tank lists a ride to Kadina swap meet June 2018. Yoiks! Gawler swap meet is about the furthest I have ridden in 16 months. Now, that, my chopper friends is NOT good. I have run up plenty of miles, but all local stuff. How I crave a couple of weeks out on the open road! Get a...

Re: Circumventing the RidikulusRool Peter's Evo Chopper derake...

Back onto the chopper for a few hours the following morning. Jack the frame forwards and see what happens with 550 rule. Need 80mm, but after a fair bit of pressure only gain about 30mm. Down tubes are basically bending from near front engine mount and just doing it this way will mean pushing steeri...

Back in the workshop for a couple of weeks and at last catching up on jobs. A couple of quickies. Apehangers on a Hunter required lengthening 12 sets or wires, a new clutch cable, modified throttle cable and setting up a choke using a Velocette advance/retard lever. More on this in a separate post.....

2019 Balhannah Swap...

Balhannah motorcycle only swap meet was on again Sunday just gone. This is one of the main meets at which we do a CA stand. Last year I rode in the night before and slept there, but his year decided to ride up in the morning. As it turned out night before wasn't too good. Once tea was done and dishe...

2019 BilletProof visited by a couple of cool choppers

Springer finally on my chopper, tested... real good, sunny warm day, Muster leaflets to hand out, been working hard and could do with a relaxing cruise, BilletProof show to check out... Wow! What more good reasons could one ask for? Call Jason Friday night. Yeah! He'll be in on it. He's just got his...

2019 Chopper Muster November 30th

The bestest South Australian chopper event of the year. Make sure you come. Plenty of room for camping. All help offered for the Friday prior will be welcomed. Archery was requested last year and I am still chasing up a club who can supply some bows and an instructor. Anyone know of someone to do th...

Gawler Swap meet... first ride with my new springer

This year has been a real challenge. Just overcome one hurdle ove and two more would smugly present themselves. My own project of building a new springer for the shovel (intended since day one of the shovel build 18 years ago!) has been a very much on again off again affair; grabbing a few hours or ...

Moto Adelaide 2019...

A couple of weekends ago Moto Adelaide bike show was on for its second year in the Adelaide CBD. We had to book our space well in advance and due to the number of entries, CA was limited to six choppers. I was concerned at how to choose just six. As it turned out, some of our choppers were in pieces...

Coffee 'n Chrome bike show Aug 2019...

Alarm rings at 6.30am. Still dark. Brrrr! Don't want to get up! Too cold to get out! Going to be freezin' ridin'! What a dumb idea to go to a bike show at this hour! Aarggh! Ok. It'll all be alright once I see my chopper. Ok. Here goes. No carpet on the floor yet. Freezin'! Socks, Tshirt. Long under...
