Re: Long term Triumph Chopper project

Bloke in Perth who has built soe pretty cool choppers and chopper trikes wants to catch up with some like minded folks. He runs a machinery retail store up your way. Could you give me your phone number for me to pass onto him.

Trouble shooting a non-starting Shovel...

My shovel would spin over with the starter but not start. So how to find out the problem? Riding home along the Southern Expressway the other night the shovel ran like a Swiss watch. The weather was perfect and traffic non existent so in a state of near euphoria I opened her up and... better not inc...

2021 Toy Run...

Once again the MRA Toy Run was restricted by the Covid Con and it was not possible to have the activities at our destination, the Callington oval. Despite this, a big group of bikes participated in the gathering at Victoria Park and the ride. This year MRA offered bike clubs a place as leaders of th...

2021 CA Muster; the adventure

Our annual chopper musters are held in the latter half of each November. It's a case of trying to dodge other events. Event calendar was clear for the 27th/28th, but as the time came closer, other events appeared some of which affected our attendance, but that is part of the game. Weather was a conc...

2021 Balhannah Swapmeet

I've been to every Balhannah Motorcycle only swap meet since 2005 (initially at Birdwood) and this is the first time we've had inclement weather. As I watched the forecasts during the previous week, the amount of rain promised on the day gradually decreased, so I held out hopes that as the previous ...

Re: Long term Triumph Chopper project

I think Tri Norton has a good idea. I would suggest you level the oil tank rather than having it tilted upwards at the front. Then make an electrics box to fill in the corner. It could be a separate item as shown below or I would build it into the frame as a gusset and mould it in... http://www.chop...

Re: 2021 Gawler Swap Meet

Agreed. Until the forties bike tyres were narrow, then in USA they brought out 'Balloon' tyres to soften the roughness of the road. Yank bikes were still mostly rigid. My WLA manual advice on tyre pressure is 10psi solo and 12 psi two up. I have found that the side walls of modern tyres are not buil...

2021 Gawler Swap Meet

A swap meet at last. They've been few and far between with the ridiculous government restrictions and demands on swap meet organisers. I usually camp overnight and enjoy the camaraderie of a dozen other sellers who have spent the afternoon setting up their stalls. Not this time though, they only hav...

Teaching; Sissy Bars

The question has been asked on our Facebook page; How do I stop my sissy bar flexing? One question asked about 'harmonics', but flex from road irregularities is the real issue in sissy bar construction. Here are some basic principles and lessons from experience. Hope this helps you builders out ther...

Anti Vax rallies around Australia 2021

Adelaide rally is on Southern Parklands corner of South Terrace and Glenn Osmond Road on Saturday 15th May beginning at midday. Every biker I have spoken to is against this draconian attempt to control us so at the risk of being too political, I am letting you all know so we can make our voices hear...
