Re: 2021 Gawler Swap Meet

Agreed. Until the forties bike tyres were narrow, then in USA they brought out 'Balloon' tyres to soften the roughness of the road. Yank bikes were still mostly rigid. My WLA manual advice on tyre pressure is 10psi solo and 12 psi two up. I have found that the side walls of modern tyres are not buil...

2021 Gawler Swap Meet

A swap meet at last. They've been few and far between with the ridiculous government restrictions and demands on swap meet organisers. I usually camp overnight and enjoy the camaraderie of a dozen other sellers who have spent the afternoon setting up their stalls. Not this time though, they only hav...

Teaching; Sissy Bars

The question has been asked on our Facebook page; How do I stop my sissy bar flexing? One question asked about 'harmonics', but flex from road irregularities is the real issue in sissy bar construction. Here are some basic principles and lessons from experience. Hope this helps you builders out ther...

Anti Vax rallies around Australia 2021

Adelaide rally is on Southern Parklands corner of South Terrace and Glenn Osmond Road on Saturday 15th May beginning at midday. Every biker I have spoken to is against this draconian attempt to control us so at the risk of being too political, I am letting you all know so we can make our voices hear...

Amberlight Custom Bike Show 2021

It has been a while since I rode to this event, so won't be a story, just pics and a few explanations... It was one of the first events in SA since the inauguration of the International Covid Scam, so there was a big crowd, both bikes on show and lined up in the street. In fact there would have to h...

2021 Bone Rattlers Ride... well part of it.

Most weekends I work with customers who can't come down to the workshop during the week. This Sunday was no different, but I Michael who is helping me build his XV chopper was ok with starting at 12.00 so I could drop in on the Bone Rattler's first custom bike ride. Henry arranged to meet me on the ...

March 2021 Bike Night and swap meet

The weather was beautiful for riding, so all day I was looking forwards to jumping on my trusty shovel chopper and riding into the city to I think the fourth Adelaide Bike Night. The following day (today) was to be the Hot rodder's swap meet at Kilburn, so I decided that being unable to get away on ...

He's done a nice job. It is a big tank. Will be interested to see how it blends in with the rest of the chopper.

Prof's 1948 Model U chopper 1974...

This was my second chopper. It took me 2 years to build and was finished with a few weeks to spare before riding it to Pt Pirie to start at my first teaching post in Feb 1974. The bike was a 1948 model U ex SA police bike that my father had purchased years before and always run with a sidecar. It ha...
