I fired up the sporty and took it for a short spin tonight. Starts instantly, clutch is grabby idles and runs a bit rough so needs a good tune, but quick...

Belt woes

Jason has been having problems with primary belt alignment on his S&S chopper. Came up Saturday to reduce the spacing between the inner primary and the crankcase to get a more perfect alignment as the belt under power would run into the inner primary. Jason hopped onto the lathe and machined up some...

Re: Pan upgrade...

Will definitely suggest to Rayne that we pin one nut to become a bolt head. Machining the other end of the axle to prevent thread damage from the set screw is something I had not thought of, but a great idea. If I could index a chuck (with a big enough through hole for the axle) in the mill to machi...

Re: Pan upgrade...

Thanks for the ideas Steve. One nut becomes the 'bolt head is good'. Lock nut on the other side might be the go. Mechanical methods are my preference too. See if Tony has had the problem on other springers. Third to last photo before starting handlebars is a good close up. Nuts do have spring washer...

Re: Pan upgrade...

Definitely a good looking springer and Rayne found it rides very well with no bounce. Axle nuts did come loose on a 20 minute ride though which is a concern. Any suggestions beside loctite?

Re: Victor’s Shovel Chopper

Good to see the progress and the lathe. You will be amazed at how much you use it... and wonder how you ever got along without one. Re top 1" thread...1. It doesn't have to be one inch, can be stepped down. 5/8 would be adequate, as it is basically just acting as a lock nut. 2. I have 1" UNF dies an...

2018 Macclesfield Bike Show

Choppers Australia did its fourth all bike show for this year;Balhannah, Coast to Coast, Lockleys and this last weekend, Macclesfield. Macclesfield show, put on by Lions, was the best in my opinion in that all visitors parked their bikes on the oval with the displays and stalls, making a real specta...

Re: Pan upgrade...

Here's the final post on Rayne's pan, well for a while at least. Rayne polished up the handlebars and installed drilled them and yhen drilled and threaded the sleeves for the 1/4" retaining screws. He was keen to get the chopper on the road, so we will leave passivating until later. Sorry to not be ...

Reminder this is on this weekend. Ken will have his CA display and we hope to have a decent round up of choppers at the stall.
