Homemade Megaphone / cone exhausts

I'm in the process of making a new exhaust system for my Shovelhead, I needed to quieten it down a lot for daily riding, but also wanted to run the pipes wide open without much effort. Plus of course trying to be unique, what better way to do it than making my own "megaphone" mufflers from scratch. ...

Re: Handlebar type ID?

They have the shape of a Flattrack bar, but taller than usual. If you look around you will find a flattracker bar that is close. I assume the bars on the XV is 7/8" :?: Just found these, if you remove the crossbar they would be pretty close: http://durelleracing.com/store/index.php?main_page=product...

Great pics and a brilliant write up. The picture of the 2 shovels amassed by the police has been a good conversation piece for 2 days now. I printed it out and have stuck it up at work 8) Thanks to Andrew and Brian for coming along for the weekend. Hopefully next year we can get some more members ou...

Re: CB250 Cafe #2, headstem, brakes, speedo...

Coming along really nicely! Perhaps the owner wants to have a speedo fitted, it's worth noting that regulations have changed in SA for older motorcycles (to our benefit) and speedometers are not required pre '88. Also the 45° guard coverage does not apply pre '88 :D http://www.sa.gov.au/subject/Tran...

Re: Shovelhead chopper rebuild. Picture intensive!

That is awesome. Love the shot of the Avon tyre, looking up at the Rectangular lights. Real '70's feel. Glad you got your timing issue sorted. What was the cause? Valves not opening ? Sort of, the solid lifters I bought and put in there.. were hydraulics  . Just unblocked the oil feed to the ...

Re: Shovelhead chopper rebuild. Picture intensive!

Guys and gals... The bike is pretty much done. I had my first test ride today after sorting out my issues which turned out to be lifters. It runs top banana, heaps of power, starts right up. Just giving it some doing laps around the block to get the motor run in initially. I still need to make some ...

Re: Shovelhead chopper rebuild. Picture intensive!

Alright guys, I'm not sure if we are better or worse. I ditched the fuel and put in some fresh 98 octane, put another set of new plugs in.... And we have some action (but it's not good). New plugs - NGK B5ES gapped at .025" (I have always run these without issue) Fresh fuel - 98 octane. Points set ....
