Re: Having problems with rear sprocket

Will see if I can explain what is happening. Every bolt head is lifting on one side. As you rotate the wheel forward each bolt head that comes up to the top has the head bent away from the sprocket at the back side. So basically all the bolt heads are bending to the inside of the sprocket. The wheel...

Belated wishes from me too. Glad to hear it was a good one. Hope I'm still riding at 70.

Re: Front fork slider

Don't know. The crack is on the inside of the bore. You can only see it when you look down into the slider. The crack does not go through to the outside. Would seem pretty hard to weld down inside the bore.

Front fork slider

Looking for a right side fork slider to fit 80 FXWG Dual 10" rotors. Went to do a service on the Shovel and found one fork was dry. After cleaning, found a hairline crack across the bottom from the hole to edge of the bore. Must be where the oil went.

Frankly, I have no idea. I am supposing they don't attach the same way. Got a photo?

Shovelhead Seat

Looking for a seat for the shovel. Currently has a single, which is coming apart a bit along the back seam. Will probably get it reupholstered, but looking for something that would also include a passenger pad.

Re: The shovel - not a chop yet!

I grin pretty wide now Nigel. And grit my teeth a bit too. Someone, not sure who, moved the bottom shock mounts back 3 or 4 inches. Brought the seat right down, which I really like, but don't get a lot of shock absorption. The road to Bendigo is pretty rough. Slowly coming together Fluffer. Will hav...

Re: The shovel - not a chop yet!

Thanks Prof for the replies. First I've heard of lubricating the advance weights. Thought any lube needed would come with the points set, but then there wasn't any lube for the cam wiper either. I bought some light grease to use there, so maybe the same is used for the weights? I will give it a try ...

The shovel - not a chop yet!

I posted some time back about the 80 Shovelhead I imported from the US. Can't find the post to continue, so will start again. I bought the bike before last Christmas, off Ebay in the US for $4600. I got it from a guy in Texas who said it had belonged to Billy Lane of Choppers INC. I had never heard ...

Re: Road Safety Survey - Hearld Sun 5/9/12

So what happens if you ride in from another state and don't have the gear? In the end, it may come down to Civil Disobedience. Large numbers of guys willing to join a ride without the flouro gear, take the ticket and take it to court. Of course you won't prevail in court, but think of the backlog of...
