Re: Shovelhead chopper rebuild. Picture intensive!

Relocated the swingarm shock mounts a bit further back, this lowers and stiffens the rear end without changing shocks. Re: Which bike is that...?

It's a 750, you can pick em by the forward angle of the cylinders. The smaller Fours were all upright :)

Re: mechanical oil pressure gauge

If I could make a suggestion about these pressure gauges, avoid the 100psi and get a 0-60 or even 0-30 gauge. I don't know much about old triumphs, but the Harley's rely more on oil volume than oil pressure. I have a 0-60 psi gauge, and most of the time the needle is flickering around 10psi. With th...

Re: Shovelhead chopper rebuild. Picture intensive!

Took the wheel in this morning and had a chat with the wheelbuilder at GC's on Main North Rd. He looked at the spoke pattern and said that it was all OK, so It's should be a matter of rolling some new threads on the spokes. It should be all sorted next week if there aren't any issues. Even though th...

Re: Shovelhead chopper rebuild. Picture intensive!

Bear, Cooling of the oil filter was a consideration, In this place it should fair okay. With extended forks, the frame sits at quite an angle, so the oil filter should get decent airflow. In other news, today was a bit of a failure. I laced up the front wheel, everything going pretty cool until I wa...

Re: Shovelhead chopper rebuild. Picture intensive!

Been quiet the last few days, but I got in the shed for a little bit this evening. Recieved the correct oil tank fittings, as you can see they are MUCH smaller and neater for the same size thread and barb. http://i645.photobucket.com/albums/uu180/originalninja/IMG_7318Large_zps776f4322.jpg http://i6...

Re: Shovelhead chopper rebuild. Picture intensive!

Also got the front wheel ready to go together. I found a great New old stock 21x1.6 Chrome rim, polished the hub and brakeplate, and ordered some genuine Yamaha spokes (this is a Yamaha wheel) http://i645.photobucket.com/albums/uu180/originalninja/image_zpsa674451b.jpeg http://i645.photobucket.com/a...

Top light mount rough cut out of 4mm, bolted to riser bolts. Bottom light just using some angle for the time being. I'm happy with how it's going http://i645.photobucket.com/albums/uu180/originalninja/IMG_7285Large_zps84ac9043.jpg http://i645.photobucket.com/albums/uu180/originalninja/IMG_7295Large_...

Re: Shovelhead chopper rebuild. Picture intensive!

As promised.. Pictures galore. Got into the shed for a little bit tonight and got playing some bits. It feels so weird building a bike from proper parts, not junky old stuff. This is the first time I've ever really build something "nice", so I'm excited about the finished product. I mentioned in my ...

Re: Shovelhead chopper rebuild. Picture intensive!

Thanks guys for pointing out the purpose of each glass. I do intend to use both of these, stacked on top of each other. What I meant originally was That I wasn't sure which glass would be the best to use for the low beam. With the "high beam" switched on, both lights will stay on. I'm actually going...

Well heres something I know you'll love Prof... I found these beauties on eBay UK but the seller wouldn't post internationally. Lucky for me my great mate who lives in England took on the role of freight forwarding  What have we here? http://i645.photobucket.com/albums/uu180/originalninja/I...

Re: Shovelhead chopper rebuild. Picture intensive!

I picked up some fittings the other day to sort out the plumbing for the oil tank. I got some 3/8 steel sockets, and just for mock up I had to go with an elbow and straight hose tail, because the 90 degree hose tails were unavailable. This stuff is cheap as chips anyway so it's no biggie. The proper...

Advanced Engines in Salisbury, it was $60 for both heads. That's glass bead blasting.
