Re: Speedo MPH or KPH

John, If you were given a price of $160 for the same speedo, you were ripped off. That speedo is the Bikers Choice Mini Speedo With LED Indicator Light - 2:1 Drive Ratio 76067 unit, it was selling for $63-66 at most places a few weeks back, I got it through Amazon, along with the matching Biker's Ch...

Re: Speedo MPH or KPH

Thanks, but I wasn't after bling, so much as re-mapping the dial, IF I can get the speedo apart without breaking it, it looks like one of the displays on the lockwood site that was shown should work quite well. http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/t518/neale666/dial.jpg http://i1063.photobucket.com/a...

Re: Speedo MPH or KPH

Thanks a lot, when I was trolling for face images, I never managed to find as many as you did. Some of the ones that you came up with appear fairly close to the arc I need, I'll have to get off me bum and see about mapping one across. Now that's scary, trolling through the lockwood site (thanks for ...

Re: Speedo MPH or KPH

I've got an image (and can get more and apply exact dimensions if necessary), it's re-calculating the scale for the indicators which is the problem in my mind, IE if I could map a straight line comparison between the existing MPH indicator point spacings, and scaled KPH indicator points, and find so...

Re: Speedo MPH or KPH

I've been looking for an application/program that could be used to create a new dial/face image (in KPH), which could then be printed on the appropriate media with a later or inkjet printer, but haven't had any luck as yet :o( I was quoted $220 to print a dial from an existing image, + god knows how...

Re: Speedo MPH or KPH

I'm quite interested in this question, too. There are neat li'l Biker's Choice speedos with 4 indicator lights (blinker, high beam, neutral & oil), but from what I was told by US sellers, the 2.1:1 (what I needed) is only available as MPH, whereas they have a 1:1 in KPH. I ended up buying the MPH on...

Re: Any ideas on this one?

"If you are into welding and frame modifying, you can also raise the top shocker mounts a little." When I bought my XV, the shocks had been moved to the guard mounting point about an inch higher, I was thinking about getting proper posts mounted there, but there's rather less "meat" to the frame the...

Re: Any ideas on this one?

"My guess is the rake is stock and the angle increased by making it a hard strut rigid, removing the rear suspension. what looks like the rear fender strut is actually part of the new frame???" Those 1st gen frames were monoshock, cromag's probably right, they've just removed the shock (and hopefull...

Re: Any ideas on this one?

So, basically, it's not likely to be good to run like that? Figures, story of my life ;^)

Guess I'll go back to the previous plan, get some properly set up lowered rear shocks and do something with the front end.

Thanks Prof,

Neale

Any ideas on this one?

Guy on the Virago list put this pic up, but hasn't provided any details yet, which is aggravating as I rather like the way it's sitting, looks like it'd make a rather nice chop (IMHO). http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/t518/neale666/xvchop.jpg Thing is, the neck doesn't seem to be (obviously) rake...

Re: Packing Light

Their products are pretty much standard bushwalking/camping gear, you can probably find the equivalents (cheaper) at the bushwalking store chains, Kathmandu, Paddy Pallins, Snow Gum etc, every "city" (even Adelaide;^) (sorry, always wind up Adelaide mates about being in a big country town, like Canb...

Guy sueing companies over seat

A Californian motorcycle enthusiast has taken legal action after a bike seat gave him long lasting erections. Straight from the “only in America” files comes this – a Californian man is suing BMW North America over a seat that gave him a severe case of priapism (A persistent, lasting erection) that ...

Re: Riders may get tougher tests

"I still remember my pop telling me how he got his bike licence ; local copper busted him riding around town so he made him ride up the block and back, after completing this he was fully licenced ; amazing" That was still pretty much the process when I got my license in the late '70's, they sent me ...

Re: Bar height restrictions

Yeah, is wasn't wonderful, but it was a trip down memory lane as I was about 11 then. As you said, some of the bikes were nice, most were pretty ordinary, the knuckle was the most striking, not sure I'd want to ride it much though. It was just that discussion between the stoned customer and the guy ...
