Steering head bearings

Hello all I have an old bike frame that runs conventional ball bearings in the steering head. These are ball bearings with a inner and outer race as part of the bearing. The original bearings are SKF# 7206 and SKF 7205. I am considering putting in taper roller bearings. As a result of this I have a ...

Re: Peace loving majority or Radical minority

Prof I thought the article was good and accurate. The big question is how do we solve the problem. If we attack them in the streets we have sunk to their level. If we act like Australians should and let other live their lives and follow their own beliefs we may pay the ultimate price. We can't force...

Brake cable

Hello all I am after advice on where to buy quality heavy duty brake cable to make a custom cable. I am in SE QLD but mail order options would work. This will be used on a custom Guzzi 2LS front drum. I would also like some feedback on things I should know when purchasing brake cable. Thanks Steve

Re: Raw milk being banned... here's a petition

I am not a fan of petitions but I signed this one. I grew up on a farm and drank raw (we called it fresh) milk. I never had a problem and believe I am healthier for it. It is like so much these days, let the person decide.

Re: Joining wires...

Solder will certainly provide a good connection with low resistance. Professor is correct in what he is saying. I would like to add another point of view. The main issue with solder joints is that it can be prone to vibration cracking were the solder ends. This is mainly caused if the solder wicks u...

Re: Polycarbonate screen

I have found a cheap material that is resistant to stones to make a screen out of. It comes pre-curved as well. It also does not discolour in the sun. Simply take a visor from an old motorcycle helmet and cut to shape. These are available in clear or smoked finish. I have one mounted just above my h...

DL show and other QLD events

Jamie I have started a new thread as I want one that covers QLD bike shows and events. I intend to get along to the DL show this year. I was also happy to see it was on again as I didn't hear about the first one. I look forward to any updates that you put out through the year. I hope this grows into...

Re: Led lights

Marcus Brake and stop lights that you buy with the bayonet fitting plug straight in. Indicators will plug straight in but you may need to go to an electronic flasher or put some inline resistors in. I believe some indicator bulbs have a resistor built in but they are more expensive. The resistor is ...

engine coating

I was in a shop in QLD the other month and there were a set of early Harley crankcases that had a treatment/finish to protect the alloy. The bloke in the shop was not very forthcoming with what the treatment was or who does it. Although if I wanted it done I could leave my cases there and he would p...

Re: Frame paint

Has anyone tried KBS chassis coat on their frames.
It reads well on their website and promises to be ideal for coating chassis and frames, but you would expect them to say that.

Frame paint

Fellow chopper builders. I am after some feedback on steel tubed motorcycle frame finishes. I see a good frame finish is something that will stand up to stone chips, oil and fuel resistant, easy to touch up, prevents corrosion, doesn't flake or peal and is cost effective to use. It may be also good ...
