Saturday ride with two French folks...

We have a couple of French tourists/workers staying with us for a few months. Have another post to do teaching one of them to ride, but a recent back injury prevented me from sitting at the computer. Until last week did everything at computer standing, eating meals the same way too is a bit cruel I must say. Anyway, all pretty good now and back to our story...

Because their car packed it in, they have been working pretty much every day to get the money for another one. They need to drive to Melbourne and then to Brisbane where they fly out back to France. Anyone have something reliable and not too expensive to help them out?

So this afternoon we got to talking about some sight seeing and they were keen for us to show them some more of the local area. The girl (Cisi, rides a 700cc Honda back home, so I suggested she hop on the Diamond Tank Honda (for sale folks, come on someone!) and I would take Sebastian on the shovel for a couple of hours. Very keen response, so they selected helmets and jackets from The Chopper Shed stocks and we took off around 2.30pm.

Up Penny's Hill and then onto Brookman Rd. A stop to check that Cesi is ok on the CB. Sleeping bag (poor man's fairing) on headlight is to break up some of the wind as Cesi is used to a full face helmet. ..


She rides one of these at home. Interesting to find out that in France you have to use a modern helmet and must wear gloves when riding...


Few more shots. Weather was perfect and a good time of the day to be riding with welcome shade from the gums...


Through Meadows and down to Goolwa via Ashbourne. Beautiful scenery, sweeping curves and shaded avenues... can't ask for much more...


A perfect shot in the mirror... well almost! Seb's enthusiastic thumbs up sort of got in the way...

Cruised down an almost deserted main street to the wharf and parked under the bridge. Somehow forgot a pic.

Then on through Middleton and and into Port Elliott. Parked down at Horseshoe bay. Just look at those choppers. Ain't they just super cool...


Walked down on the beach. Lots of people and a spectacular coloured sea... smooth as silk.. and an embarrassing number of fat people. What is Australia coming to?


A turn right partway through Pt Elliot takes one up onto Crows Nest Road. A neat piece of curvy road with a fantastic view at the top. Currently just a gravelled patch on the roadside up to the farmer's fence. May it never become commercialised!!...


Back on the choppers and onto the Victor Harbor Rd and home. Just out of Mt Compass, I stopped and got Cisi onto the shovel while Seb and I cruised alongside on the CB...


A fun unplanned two hour and a half ride. they enjoyed it and will have some good photos and stories to take home.

Tuesday and Wednesday Rob will be down working o his sporty in The Chopper Shed, so I have organised a ride down to Victor for tea... will be three choppers this time, Chris and Mickey on the 550, Rob on the CB750 and Cisi and I on the Shovel. Rilda and Seb may follow in the car. A couple of days to wait for that one...

Great story Professor, some cool pictures as well, sure looks like the French packpackers got to see some beautiful sites no thanks to you. And Cisi will remember that ride on your choppers for a very long time if not for the rest of her life. How many French people get to ride an old Shovelhead chopper with a view of the ocean like the one on one of your pictures and she could wear an open face helmet and no gloves . I'm sure that they will remember and tell story's about you for a long time to come.

they seemed pretty happy about the ride... and it was her first time on a Harley and riding the CB was a chopper first for her. They may still be around to come on the Midnight Ride...
