Ignition panel/meter makeover

Post by Oldschoolpaulie » Fri Sep 23, 2011 4:58 pm

When I changed my front end, the normal mounts for the instruments, ignition, meter, etc. were gone, so we had to improvise and fab a bit. This plate for my ignition and brackets to mount the gauges and meter (Not visible, under the ignition plate) had to be fabbed. I was looking at my meter one day, with its missing lens over the high beam warning light, and I saw what you see here... an image in my head of the jeweled lenses we used to put in our hot rods when I was a kid. Seems the only place these jewels are still used now days are in guitar and bass amplifiers... but I got my mitts on some, refinished the aluminum on the meter (Hard to really see in the photo) and drilled the holes for the lenses to fit the jewels.
