IMHO - Go the 750/4.
Why? - The CL looks like it would be better off in the hands of a collector.
- The CB400 (IMO) is too small for making a decent chopper
- The availablity of parts both custom/chopper and stock is far greater for the 750 than just about anything non harley/triumph.
- The amount of experience and help available on this website for a 750/4 could probably see you right through most, it not all, of the build regardless of the state of the one that you buy.
- And, there can never e enough 750/4 choppers on the road.

But I don't even ride one yet so don't take my word for it.

Now a Suzuki GR 650. 1988 would make a good & diferent chop that can be hardtailed,
the engine looks simalar to my KZ750 Kwaka twin.
See ya cant copy pics on ebay now so no more show here.

Spokes is right, should be more SOHC 750 hondas on the road.

GR's are good, a mate warns me that diaphrtams for the carbys are hard to get and usiually come on a slow boat. I like em, theyve got balance shafts so dont vibrate excessivly.

XVs a good idea too....how much you gonna spend?

Have to agree with Prof, on that one. 16,000 km old for a grand. Bargain.
And it's different.

I had to choose between one of these & the 650 yam in 1980, went the yam then but these days for building a chop why be the same as a heap of others? A chop is about having a bike thats diferent & thats why I tracked down a KZ750 twin Kwaka to replace the Honds 750 in my Amen. (lots of 650 yam & 750 4 choppers in the club)
The engine look nice and cleen so would make a top looking chop with the right mods.
