21" Solid front wheel

Post by Butcher » Wed Jun 08, 2016 9:33 pm

I've been trying to find similar to this photo on the internet

I do search on "solid" wheel or "cast" front wheel but no luck

I've found similar for a 16" rear wheel but no 21" front wheel.

Thought occurred to me that I may not be asking the right question in "search"

Any idea what this type of front wheel is called in USA or elsewhere ?

I would call it a solid cast alloy wheel. Billet is another common term relating to allow wheels.

I personally wouldn't run one. I've spoken with a number of riders who have had solid wheels and they get rid of the front one real quick because they catch the wind and really mess up the steering. A number highway riders have also gone back to spoked rears or had them machined out with open patterns to reduce the side wind problem.

Here's a US one on ebay... http://www.ebay.com/itm/CUSTOM-2-15-x-2 ... jb&vxp=mtr

Heard same stories as Prof. I believe that Castalloy/ROH wheels in adelaide did them for the Fatboy a few years back. Later models had holes machined in them to help alleviate the wind forces. Maybe try Centreline wheels.?

Thanks

I've swapped the front solid wheel for a spoke 21" rim, and an 883 Sportster tank. Sold the rear solid wheel for $400.

Sounds like a fairly good trade.
