23 Priming and painting...

A blow by blow photographic account of chopping from stock to chop... This projcet has been given its own forum due to the large number of photos it contains making uploading slow for those of you still on "dial up".

Priming and painting...

Well you won't get too much explanation here as AJ is doing the painting. In return, I'm getting him a new set of short shockers for his iron head sporty and doing some work on his bike...
Paint colour is Yamaha Blue Cocktail Metallic...

Guard primed. All that moulding and TLC was worthwhile!

Frame rubbed back with a dozen spots touched up. Total rubbing back of primer took me a solid 8½ hours over two days!

Frame in base coat... As soon as all parts base coated, I went back to AJ's to put transfers on tank. They were ordered from Harley dealer, but ended up on a threeeeee week back order. Mad phoning around found a transfer maker in Sydney called Motographics. Transfers arrived by Express post in three days. Transfers were an absolute pain to apply to curves of tank as the backing was not vey flexible.
