Battery needs a cover to protect riders leg and just tidy up the space... better security too. I'll make it out of some thin stainless sheet I have left over from another job...

I use thin aluminium from caravan siding for patterns... easy to bend...

... easy to cut... these snips are great...

Basic shape sorted out with corrections marked on it. Now lay it on another sheet, for final design and fitting...

Final design fitted...

Now how to mount it. Solution is a block held onto battery top by battery strap. Will have to keep getting the same design of battery though! It's a piece of 2" x 1" steel tube with a section cut out to ensure a snug fit. Piece of thin angle is welded in. NOte also that battery terminals are covered to prevent shorting while working out patterns.

Welding finished, including two mounting nuts and a coat of spray paint.

Pattern marked out on stainless steel...

A shears is a good investment if you expect to do a bit of sheet metal work...

Stainless has been bent up and fitted and corners welded. Bends are purposely a bit shallow (ie not sharp) for looks and so trousers don't get rubbed /torn on what would then be a sharp corner...

Stainless polished up nicely...

Finished job. Hope Michael likes it...

Lovely job Prof, you do great work, it looks like a factory job, and would fool most people, and the finished article shines beatifully.
