Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

Post by tigerbob » Tue Sep 08, 2015 2:57 pm

It's that time of year again when the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride is about to happen on the same day world wide.

This year, it's on Sunday the 27th of September. Unfortunately, you have to register to get details of your local ride but you are not obliged to fund raise even though it is now a fund raising event.

It was initially run to immprove the image of motorcycling in the eyes of the general public. I took part in the inaugural Sydney event and it seems to double in size each year. See posts:

I'm hoping to have my '71 Bonny ready in time as I've done it twice on my Dyna and once as a back up driver but the Bonny is really the type of bike that is preferred. My girlfriend will be joining in for the first time on her postie bike, complete with picnic basket etc.

So, if you fancy a day of bikes and dapper attire, check out http://www.gentlemansride.com/ or do a search for Distinguished Gentleman's Ride to see what it's all about.

The photo below is from the first Sydney event in 2012

The event always looks like a bit of fun. Most of us chopper riders aren't very distinguished though!

That's the beauty of this event - everyone can be a distinguished gent (or lady) for just one day. I can assure you that many of the participants are not normally that gentlemanly. Well, at least I'm not...
