Lane splitter

Post by Mark36 » Sun Aug 04, 2013 2:22 pm

It's a little quiet on here so her's a quick run through of my bike build. First I bought this:

Then I cut off the seat mounts and brackets etc and found a tank I liked the look of and bent up a temp seat pan.

First mockup of the roller with a 21" rear

First ride :)

At this point I found the two piece rear axle plates were not spaced internally and the tighter I did up the rear axle it crushed them. I also found the welding was in fact more filler than weld so I cut the back off the frame, made new axle plates and re welded the entire frame myself. (no one else to blame now)

I bought this XR600 off a mate for the engine, wiring loom and rear wheel.

Honda XR600 engine into Suzuki DR650 frame needed a little work

Starting to put it together for the last time.

Drank some more beer and ended up with this :D

1.thanks Xsive
2.thanks Nozilla, my nickname has been choppa for the last 15 years!
3.thanks Prof, I still had to do the work but usually blokes in sheds with beer can solve all the problems of the world
4.thanks Crazyhorse, there is a real number plate under that one. Unfortunately I've been unable to convince vicroads to accept "?" as a character on a number plate  Cheers Mark
