Why?
Then what, buy them off people with no reputation, no feedback, no re call, no form.
Are you knowledgable about how to import these bikes, get them registered, clear customs, how to pass the ADR's. These bikes will, if they actually arrive, have no warranty, no service, no back up, no nothing. Whoever you get to comply them will not offer a warranty or even a statement as to the viability of the bike.
Buyer be very aware. It's not as easy as it looks. Buy it for $5K, it'll cost at least another $5K before your skinny arze is putting off down the road here in Australia.
750/4 Sonic chopper.
A custom bike or a chopper should be something that has had the original essence of its existence altered to project the skills, objectives and artistic vision of its creator so the viewer or “beholder” and the creator can be positively stimulated by the actual bold or sublime beauty of the bike. Both need to project an essence of suitability, practicality, function and righteousness that has no stand for mediocrity or aesthetic blasphemy.

Ol Fart importing bikes is very (as you would know) easy fill out your DOTARS form and off you go as long as it is pre89 and matching numbers you just have to put it to our ADR's at the time of manufacture and pre 73 has no ADR's so whats the biggie. I would rather buy a project there for the right money, than get scammed by some back door business man, and old bikes dont come with warranties you can get scammed just as easily here on ebay and shipping is cheap, customs is easy and it aint gonna cost you double to rego it. Most of the guys selling here would rather rip you off with 150% markups than give you a fair deal (since when is an Ironhead basket case 4 Grand I can get a complete running classic for that) and thats how it begins, you do yourself out of a job the world is getting smaller and bikes in the U.S are far better priced than here but there is a limit 99 per customer per year I suppose I can work around that

you can get a nice running Harley over here for less than $5000.
I have been seeing pre 89 Sportsters in ride home condition going for under $2000 quite frequently around here.
If you really want to do some hunting check out http://www.craigslist.org/about/sites .

I agree with Keith I bought my 73 xlch from the U.S cost me $2 grand U.S to buy, $50 for the Dotars approval and $1400 to ship including g.s.t. Man I dont know many people over here selling bikes like that for that kind of coin. I think its got to do with saturation of the U.S with bikes as to why they are so cheap.
