but not quite right,
maybe its a sites guage off an old canon?

Were'nt sextants made of brass...that way they did not expand and contract in extreme tempratures? also easier to clean and keep corrosion free......Gun site seems about right, what with the logditudenal sighting rod and V arrangement....but i was going to say its off a grader......

More i look at it the more it seems as if its off a Road Grader, they measure the angle of the blade, so you get correct run off/camber.....big chunky and materials dont need to be as temp tolerant....from memory although its been a long while since ive seen a Gun sight, something like a 40mm boffers would be wound through a 90* gear box and the indicator would be mounted down near that, so you didnt have to lift your head to see it. therefore the V would be useless......now the grader angle finder is mounted on the gear/cage/carriage that holds the blade, and rather than using it as a vertical plane finder such as a gun sight it is used to find the horizontal plane...pure speculation but more interesting than the Collecters....

It came with the house I'm renting ....
In truth, I rent a house from a long time friend. We were going through some rubbish he was throwing out and this was amongst it. There is similar gadget at another friends house .... neither of them are sure what the wigwams are.

but we're all pretty sure they aren't part of a goose's bridle .... (if you get that, you're probably as olde as me

I'd say it's a solar powered robotic wireless alphanumrical combustible rotating rainwater distribution fork. But as anyone with half a brain knows it's last years model hence why it differs from the current model sold in stores.
