travelling the New England, you don't have to worry about the cops you can see Samks, did you see the squiggly lines across the roads ever so often?? thats to estimate your speed from the air

They don't do that a great deal anymore. I haven't heard of anyone getting done like that for a decade at least.
Not to say that it doesn't happen but I haven't heard of any incidents for ages.
However, My route that I originally posted ( maybe with longer legs because we are all physically fit and riding bikes with suspension) is still looking like the best route as far as I am concerned.
And as no one has actually broken a route into legs with stop overs and distances for each day then I gather that everyone else agrees? Or does one of those google maps have planned stops factored into it?

SA border to Willunga (Adelaide) is a full day's ride on rigids. If you can get to Willunga by Thursday, T Bear is organising a small Gymkhana for Friday afternoon followed by a BIG bonfire and BBQ. Saturday to clean your choppers and recover and Sunday a two hour ride to Birdwood (Nat Motor Museum) for lunch. Then leave for home Tues or Wed.
So you would want to camp near Vic/SA or NSW/SA border by Wednesday arvo...

While as T Bear says, the Coorong road (via Kingston) is a bit rough in places, it has a fraction of the traffic of the notorious Dukes Highway which is loaded with semis who don't wait for anyone and travel at 100 on the dot... no fun for a buch of choppers at 85-90...

Hi all.
I see above Spokes says no one has proposed a detailed route.

In the "Mega Ride Route" topic on Thu Dec 04, 2008 6:31 pm
http://www.choppersaustralia.com/forum/ ... 9043#19043
I said:-
I have previously put up a detailed proposal for the leg between Newcastle and past Sydney .....

However much as I search I can't seem to find this posting.
maybe it was in an email to Prof and not in a forum at all however I did put a lot of work into it. Maybe a moderator removed it ?

Anyhow I can't find it now so will do it all again and post it here

and it'll take 4 days from the Vic border?

or have i missed somthing here?
a quick where is via the quickest route comes up with Distance: 2401.7km Time: 26hr 26min (approx)

At 350kms a day 7 days one way ;)
