QLD meeting

Post by XSChop » Tue Jan 06, 2009 10:03 pm

Hi all,
I hope this is going in the Mega Ride CoOrdinators forum ?
Apparently there is to be a meeting in QLD for the CoOrdinators who can get there. It was discussed previously I remember and then mentioned again.
Now maybe it's my stupidity but I can't seem to find the details on when and where.
I emailed Ben who said to ask BobbaZuki which I did and he told me 1st Feb was the date and that he had posted his location in the
"Mega Run forum , about October 08 , all the corordinator's know about the date"
But I have searched and searched and can't seem to find that entry giving an address to go to.
So here I am asking all the CoOrdinators who know about it to make it clear here just because my ultimate stupidity seems to be preventing me from deciphering it from the clues so far.

At present I am planning to ride up with Cromag but only 3 weeks till we would have to leave.

Back in august I posted a "post" about us members coming together to
organize ourselfs on the up-n-coming MegaRun next year. the purpose would be for us to nut out all or any details , as there are a few issues we need to sort out before we ride off ..... so at this stage I'm proposing January sunday 25th 09 , as it's a long weekend .

Australia Day

Post by XSChop » Sat Jan 17, 2009 11:58 am

Ahh well seems I can't make it to the meeting because it's on Australia Day Weekend. Just about everyone has committments that weekend and it turns out I can't get out of mine.
Cromag was keen to go but now thinks his back won't make the distance.
SO
I see in the Mega Rid Route Poll is now in favour of "New England / Newell Highways" option.

I have posted previously a proposal using the Pacific and Hume hwys through NSW
http://www.choppersaustralia.com/forum/ ... 6795#16795
We have had an offer of camping and cooking and hospitality at Ol_750's place 15k off the Highway at Raymond Terrace (just north of Newcastle) which seems a good option if going that way.

But if the vote is for "New England / Newell Highways" Spokes did suggest
Day 1 (Sat 10th) - Brisbane to Tenterfield - 274km
Day 2 (Sun 11th) - Tenterfield to Wallabadah - 354km
Day 3 (Mon 12th) - Wallabadah to Dubbo - 366km
Day 4 (Tue 13th) - Dubbo to Narrandera - 393km
Day 5 (Wed 14th) - Narrandera to Bendigo - 369km
But if you go that far inland it might be a number of Sydney area people would not come along.

I have also previously posted a proposal route that comes down the coast a bit then goes inland but not so far.
http://www.choppersaustralia.com/forum/ ... 9043#19043
And here is the one with the maps of both proposals
http://www.choppersaustralia.com/forum/ ... 9105#19105

Other than that all I want to say is, when considering the nicer, twistier and more interesting back roads to consider the rigids opinions.
I'm happy to do that because I have suspension and like the twisties and country atmosphere but might not on a rigid !
Whatever is decided about a route and stops across NSW I'm happy to organise the details eg Accommodation and Meals etc

Also the issue of money should be addressed.
I strongly suspect that one of the main reasons for Some people opting for no support vehicle could well be the perceived cost of same.
Same goes for meals and accomodation where the club organises this for all on the run and then some don't want to pay for it ? ?

But I'm sure you good Queenslanders have thought of all this so just let me know what you decide and I'll help where I can.

It's on the 1st of Feb, not the 25th of Jan. I think the Jan date was changed.

cheers, al :)

Hi, if you had read the complete page
http://www.choppersaustralia.com/forum/ ... 6&start=15
you would see the dates were changed, I only put the first part up as a guide, so you know what you were looking for, obviously I should have made it fool proof. On the second page listed, the 9th word in tells you Febuary,

Yes Feb

Post by XSChop » Sat Jan 17, 2009 4:51 pm

Ahh yes I see now. I had not seen that topic "February Meet" in "Members Input Forum" at all. I was just looking in the "Mega ride 2009" forum for all things pertaining to the ride including the "QLD Meeting" topic.
Didn't know there was a "February Meet" topic at all.
Ahh well just proves how stupid I can be eh !

Dont sweat it XS, i was looking this am and found it all a bit higldy piggldy (make sense of that spell check)............anyway, me back is feelin better.

Great route planning XS..iam not a fan of inland, but happy enough to head out that way if the QLD blokes deem it the most suitable.....either way theres a hell of a lot of variety in the countryside we'll experience, so its all down to time tables i guess....and iam between jobs so no idea what future hols will be, better those with ongoing committments plan it.

Great route suggestion XS. I have just one suggestion. Crossing the border at Tocumwal, suggest Cobram then on to Seymour. thats a more direct route to Melbourne, but its also the Hume and a little boring.
Bendigo into my place at Keilor is about an hour to an hour and a half.

See you at Burringbar on the first?
Cheers
