Thanks, but I wasn't after bling, so much as re-mapping the dial, IF I can get the speedo apart without breaking it, it looks like one of the displays on the lockwood site that was shown should work quite well.

The picture I took of the speedo face isn't 100%, but nearly all the indicator points lined up rather nicely when the scale was matched.

Damn, I would have sworn Kias were good for nothing, looks like I was wrong ;^) (dial image was for a Kia Rio)

John,

If you were given a price of $160 for the same speedo, you were ripped off.

That speedo is the Bikers Choice Mini Speedo With LED Indicator Light - 2:1 Drive Ratio 76067 unit, it was selling for $63-66 at most places a few weeks back, I got it through Amazon, along with the matching Biker's Choice tacho, about $89 including shipping for each as I stupidly ordered them separately.

Are you sure it was the same speedo?

Through amazon you say? There are plenty of them at 60USD on ebaymotors.com but they are in MPH (hence the original question). The ones I was looking at where in KPH on ebay.com.au (for $160).

Re the MPH/KPH question, that's why I'm trying to convert the dial, the one I liked with the necessary speedo ratio (2:1) and idiot lights, I could only find in MPH, Biker's choice has another one in KPH (220 kph) with idiot lights, but it's 1:1, that ratio may work for you, it didn't for me.

Found the one you were talking about, it pretty much looks like they put a different gear into it and changed the label from MPH to KPH, if what they're saying there about the "universal" ratio being 2:1 is correct, it could be worth keeping an eye out for this one to come back up http://www.ebay.com/itm/260776567290?ss ... 1497.l2649 I bought it as a pig in a poke, as I don't know what the ratio is, it only has 3 idiot lights rather than 4, but it's about 1/4 the price, I'll give it a go and see whether it reads right against a GPS.

FWIW

Possibly yes, thanks, a bodgy solution but a fraction of the cost of the "proper" fixes, ta,

Hey neale,

What is the measurment of that guage you bought?

I want to buy these....

http://www.ebay.com/itm/160809329749?ss ... 1423.l2649

to reduce the gap between the lower point of the seat (inside 380mm) and the handlebar height.

So I can then buy these....

http://www.ebay.com/itm/300716545981?ss ... 1423.l2649

but more likely these

Jac,

I don't have the gauge here at the moment, but it's 60-65mm diameter, only 1 of the gauge holders showed a diameter that I could see, and that was 48mm, about 1/2" too small.

What I got to mount the gauges was these http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/220680027470 ... 1497.l2649, not as tidy as the integrated mounts but fairly neat. What seemed to work best was to mount it on the rider's side of the bars.

Hope that helps.
