European standard helmets are to be legal in Australia. Apparently they are stronger, lighter and cheaper than current Aussie standard helmets. Something also about 1984 Standard helmets no longer legal... not exactly sure.

Clamshell helmets also coming on sale in Australia, but the guys at our Motorcycle first aid course are not convinced they are a good idea as they are very difficult to remove if there has been an accident and the rider needs his airway cleared.
