John & Drew's xs bobbers...I've just discovered your web site, what a great idea.
My #3 son Drew is 17, last year he "retired" from Mototrials to focus on yr 12. (he has done the mototrials demo at the toy run for the last few years.) , sold his comp bike and used the funds to purchase a very tired and battered 1974 XS 650 Bobber that was customised in approx 1983.
This photo is after rebuilding forks, wheels, new lights, instruments, rewiring, bearings etc. but before stripping to repaint frame, tank etc. Drew has resprayed the frame, tank and rear guard, made instrument , light and exhaust brackets etc, now we're waiting on the chrome to come back , and the pin striping before reassembly. it should be ready to register by June/July. . (assuming I can get it thru rego with those pipes). He's doing a great job for a young guy who loves his bikes, is self taught, will give anything a go and is still managing to get great grades in yr 12!

This bike I recently purchased as an "unfinished "project. It's a 1971 Yam XS1B, it was built a few yrs ago, then put in a shed, It has a mild rake, needs some tidy up, inc new seals, a new set of top fork tubes, (75 mm longer) rear shocks and light. and I'll rego it at the same time.
So I hope we'll be able to join up and join you on a run in July/August
