Li'll Johnny

Post by XSChop » Fri Sep 10, 2010 8:48 am

Hi all,
Finally got round to making a post about the Li'll Johnny project.

In case you don't know, Li'll Johnny is a Russian Ural with sidecar frame and Howard water cooled 1860cc V twin engine.
It is being built by CA members to answer the challenge to race the Dog Sled team at the Mushter event.

The first workshop day we had I made a bit of a video of the event so Click Here to see it on YouTube.

Or here's a poor pic of it early on

Latest

Post by XSChop » Fri Sep 10, 2010 7:15 pm

Latest update is that the engine and gearbox are together with clutch between and mounted in the frame.

Yesterday I tried to start it by kicking but Ha Ha not a chance.

Gary is coming tomorrow to help fit the sidecar frame so when that's on maybe we might be able to push it to start up.

Still a lot of work to be done though but unfortunately I will have to be passing this on to others to complete because of family and work commitments between now and the Mushter.
HopefullyI'll be able to put in some more time on it but can't be sure of it.

Progress

Post by XSChop » Sun Sep 12, 2010 2:57 pm

Gary came up yesterday and left today.
Johnny is now a roller and all ready to start but haven't managed to get it to fire yet although it has fired back out the inlet a couple of times.
More attention to magneto timing might do the trick.
Here's a couple of pics

Still needs :=
Front axle, brake caliper and lever mount on bars
Bars and risers
Clutch lever and cable
Rear brake shoes - Gary is getting these
Oil tank mounted and connected
Mount main seat
Mount sidecar seat
Right footpeg and foot brake lever
Mount radiator and plumb
Fit kill switch and new plug leads
Mount and connect fuel tank. Being made by Jim ?

Oh and get someone stupid enough to Ride It !

Gone to Steve

Post by XSChop » Tue Sep 21, 2010 9:18 pm

Well today Li'll Johnny made the move to Steve (XSIVE)'s place for finishing off.

Still lots to be done but there's a chance it might be ready for the Mushter
