hurst ,airheart disc breaks ?

Post by chop 69 » Wed Apr 23, 2008 7:54 pm

I have a few questions about hurst airheart disc breaks, are these disk breaks any good ?, the disk size is 200mm & im looking to run a pair on my front wheel if i can track down another caliper the same as this one. Are they hard to find ?. ok they look the part but are they going to stop me. I have the front break leaver/master cylinder 2 disks & 1 caliper. Im going to put these on my 69 bonnie, springer frontend, if all is good, dont fancy stoping by draging my feet on the ground ha ha ha, im running the orignal drum on the back.

Hey Chop69, these were the s*%t back in the 70's however not the best for stopping, keep an eye out on ebaymotors as NOS stuff still comes up now and then. They definately suite the style of bike you're building.

I know this thread is ten years old, but in case anyone still wants or is wondering about the old Hurst Airheart brake systems, they are still available from Airheart:

High performance products for all your vehicular applications
Caliper Disc Brakes
Brake Discs
Brake Kits
Master Cylinders
http://www.airheart-brakes.com/

In the photos, that looks like the 150X series of caliper - they have limitations on mounting - either at 3 o'clock or 9 o'clock positions -

this is not a factor with their 175H calipers (they also have a larger piston size at 1.75").
