WIRING HELP WANTED

Post by Gringo »

I need help: having a problem with wiring on my K2 750 4 Honda. What we have done so far, all 5 alternator wires connected fine, alternator wires checked to make sure the yellows arent earthed, all good. Red/White connected to +12volt, green connected to - (earth), black connected switched to +12volt. All wiring done as per instructions on regulator rectifier installation.
Problem: When ignition turned on there is enough current drawn to trip 20 Amp Circuit Breaker. If Black wire (switched +12volt) is disconnected it doesnt happen.
Can anyone tell me WHY and how to Fix?????????
Regards, Gringo.

Hi Greg-0,
I think your white wire needs to go to the "F" terminal on the regulator, not to battery +.
Here is a simple wire diagram.

Good luck!

the white wire is the field wire. it turns the alternator on and off.
It should be connected to the reg/rec somehow.
I could be wrong but I don't think it should be connected to 12v +.
Try disconnecting the white wire and see if the breaker still blows.
Cool to see you back around here Gringo!
Never seen you after Colac.....
Ever figure out what happend?
Cheers!
